If you are looking to create self-hypnosis sessions that work, this is a step-by step approach that would guide you. Let’s get started!
Step #1: Position
There can be many positions for you to be in on order to reap maximum benefit from a self-hypnosis session. Whenever you choose to start a session, make sure you are in a totally relaxed position without any of your hands or legs crossed. This can hinder the flow of the “chi” or internal energy within you that can cause discomfort and impair the body’s natural ability to relax.
Step #2: Allocate Time
You would want to be sure that you are free from any worries and deadlines to keep up when you start a self hypnosis session. There is little chance of being successful if your mind is elsewhere and you cannot give full concentration to the task at hand. Learn to let go of other things that may be bugging you. Distractions are a no-no when it comes to a successful self-hypnosis session.
Step #3: Clear Your Mind
Start each session by relaxing your muscles and clear your mind off any impending worries and fears. You need to be confident of yourself and let go of any form of distraction that would distract you from focusing on the session. If fearful thought arise, just watch it slip by without exerting too much effort doing so. Make the extra effort to focus on the pleasant and motivating thoughts instead.
Step #4: Release the Tension
Now you need to release the hidden tension in each and every muscle group starting with your feet. Tense them up for a few seconds and then release it. Feel the release and the wonderful sensation. The move up to your legs and tense it up. Release it. Feel the wonderful feeling of being relaxed. Then move up to all major areas of your body and do this repeatedly until your reach your head. Tense your facial muscles and release it. Now you are ready for the next step.
Step #5: Breathing
You need to be aware of your breathing before a session can commence. Start by taking deep breaths that fills you up with energizing oxygen and then slowly let it out again. Do this for ten times. As you breathe in, imagine a strong force of energy rushing with you filling up with renewed sense of health energy and vibrancy.
Step #6: Descend
Close your eyes. Now imagine that you are descending a flight of stairs to a wonderful calming and beautiful oasis of sheer beauty and relaxation. Feel the feeling of excitement and relaxation as you move close towards this imagery. You need to be more and more relaxed as you descend lower and closer to this beautiful spot. When you have reached this place, then start repeating the affirmation you may have for you own goal such as ‘I am reaching the ideal weight I want and I fill myself up with healthy energy giving food”. Always use the positive term to express this statement.
Step #7: Back to the Present
Once you are done doing this and you are ready to end the session, slowly ascend your consciousness as you visualize yourself climbing the stair with total ease, relaxation and confident, while looking forward to enjoy this wonderful place one more time soon in the future. As soon as you reach the top of the stairs, slowly open your eyes and bring your consciousness back to the present time.
After you have done a few sessions doing self hypnosis completely by yourself, that is saying your own affirmation is a good wa yto go. For the beginner or first timers, as I have said before in earlier posts, I strongly recommend one of the many sessions on self hypnosis CD’s or an MP3.
