When most people think of hypnosis they think of some sideshow act making people do weird things up on stage while the rest of the audience laughs at them. This does happen, there are stage hypnotists that do this for amusement but this is not the only application of hypnosis. In this article we will discuss one of the fields of hypnosis, self-hypnosis. Before you decide if this is the right direction for you lets look at the process of hypnosis. First we will discuss hypnosis in general. Then we will move on to self-hypnosis and then on to the benefits.
First off, what is hypnosis?
Webster’s Dictionary defines Hypnosis as a trancelike state that resembles sleep but is induced by a person whose suggestions are readily accepted by the subject. What this means is that you go into a relaxed state. When you are in this state you are more susceptible to suggestion. In this state you can be “retrained” to make changes in your behavior.
Self Help Hypnosis is only different in the fact that you are doing it yourself. Self Hypnosis is not difficult to do, but with anything else it takes practice. The first thing that you will need is to decide what behavior you would like to modify. Then you will need to come up with some affirmations that will assist in the modification other these behaviors. Next you will need a quiet, comfortable space. People often use their bedrooms for this purpose. You will need to sit in a comfortable chair or lay down on your bed.
Then just relax.
Relax as far as you can without going to sleep. Many people will think of somewhere that pleases or calms them, such as the ocean or an open meadow. Others find that counting down from 100 helps them to achieve the relaxation that is needed. Once you are relaxed you will repeat the affirmations that you thought of previously. Do this repeatedly to reinforce the ideas that you are embedding. Once you want to end the session wake yourself up slowly. A good tip is that the last thing to tell yourself while hypnotized is that you will wake up happy, refreshed and alert. The last step is to open your eyes. As you do these steps more and more you will see that it will become easier and you will see the benefits as well.
Some of the benefits of self-hypnosis are that you are doing it to yourself. This eliminates the worry of someone that is unscrupulous doing something that you do not agree with. You can also define your own goals and know that is what is being focused on. Another benefit is the reduced cost. Going to a professional hypnotist can be expensive.
People have used hypnosis for a variety of reasons. It can be used to assist in weight loss, to stop smoking, to increase self-confidence, to reduce stress, or to increase their focus. Whatever your reason self-hypnosis is an effective way to achieve your goals.

Weight Loss Hypnotherapy does work. I can say from my own experience hypnotherapy for weight loss does really work, i know that because i have had it done after struggling with my weight for many years.
I must admit before I heard a radio broadcast on the BBC with Claire Hegarty who was invited on the show for being an leading expert in Weight loss hypnotherapy, i would have said to anyone who suggested that i was hypnotized for weight loss, not to be so stupid. But after struggling with my weight for many years and where my weight went all the way up to 22 stone, i listened to the show after becoming despearate and found it very interesting.
I had tried everything to lose weight, i went on loads of diets, i went to my doctor time and time again and he was not interested, i even asked if i could be given a pill that doctors give out for weight loss but he refused so i was now desperate and would have tried anything.
After listening to claire hegarty on the show and listening to what she had to say about hypnotherapy, i decided to contact her through her website, now you have to understand at this time i was still not believing hypnotherapy could help you lose weight but i did want to know more.
She explained all about hypnotherapy and weight loss and how it works to help you lose weight and i was very interested and started to feel maybe their is light at the end of the tunnel, maybe i can get back my ideal weight. I agreed to meet her and after getting on well with her i became her client. And i have to say, that i am so happy that i am now four stone lighter and still losing weight.
So what i have to say to you is, do research by all means into weight loss hypnosis, but it does work and do go to an expert and see the diference it will make to your life as it has made a huge difference to my life but make sure that they are an expert. Just because they do hypnotherapy, it does not mean they are an expert in hypnotherapy weight loss
